Early Childhood Program Type

Donna Danna 12/6/07 Regarding the Early Childhood Type of Program codes - Which code would be appropriate to assign to an Early Childhood Program housed at a public elementary school? EC staff are inquiring. If the program is ECSE Self-contained, but, at the same time is an LEA Preschool could be either ESC or PSL, or possibly ERI (if Reverse Integration program) and PSL. Please advise. Thanks

Shelley Ackermann 1/3/08 On the Service Location Screen, enter the Early Childhood Type of Program for programs housed at public elementary schools as described below: · If the program is an ECSE Self-Contained program without reverse integration, then it will be coded as an ECSE Self-Contained class (ESC). NOTE: An ECSE self-contained program cannot be coded as an LEA Preschool since it is not a program designed for serving children without disabilities. · If it is an ECSE program with reverse integration, then it will be coded as reverse integration (ERI). · If it is a preschool program that is designed for children without disabilities and includes at least 50% non-disabled children, then it will depend if the program is or is not administered by the district. ü If it is a preschool that is administered by the district (housed at a public elementary school), code it as a Preschool – LEA (PSL). ü If it is a preschool that is not administered by the district (housed at a public elementary school), code it as a Preschool-DHS Licensed (PSD). ü NOTE: If it is a Head Start program, code the program as (HDS).
