Early Childhood Setting Codes

Donna Dannar 4/9/08 EC Codes - Which EC code is appropriate for a child who receives "walk in" speech services only at a public elementary school, but is not involved in a PK instructional/classroom program? (Staff have used B5, Service Provider Location, but I was thinking that would be incorrect(??)

Shelley Ackerman 4/16/08 When completing the Web IEP, the question, “Will this child attend a Regular Early Childhood Program?” must be answered yes or no before the “Early Childhood Setting Codes” worksheet appears. The content of the worksheet is determined by the answer to the question. • Check Y – The A Code content appears. (Requires less than 50% disabled peers in the program.) • Check N – The B Code content appears. For a child who receives “walk in” speech services only at a public elementary school, but is not involved in a PK instructional/classroom program, the answer to the question is “N.” After checking “N”, the B Code choices appear. Next, the setting is selected which describes where the child receives the majority of their special education services. Speech services provided in the SLP's office located in the public elementary building is defined as “At a service provider's location.” This will automatically place the appropriate B Code on Page A. The B Code for this child is B5.
