Early Childhood Program Type
Michelle Tressel | 7/28/08 | On behalf of a data entry person...A preschool is located in and run by an accredited, non-public school. 1. Does this preschool need an Early Childhood Program Type? 2. If so, what code should be used? |
Dee Gethmann | 8/21/08 | Yes, a preschool located in and run by an accredited, non-public school needs an Early Childhood Program Type. Note: School district and accredited nonpublic schools may operate preschools in buildings owned or leased by the school board that are subject to standards set by the DE or DHS licensure. In these cases, a public school or an accredited nonpublic school may choose to either meet DE standards or obtain DHS licensure. Therefore, additional information needs to be provided to the Data Entry Personnel in order to accurately assign the appropriate Early Childhood Program Type. On the Service Location Screen, enter the Early Childhood Type of Program for preschools in buildings owned or leased by an accredited, non-public school as described below: • If the preschool has obtained DHS licensure, then it will be coded as a Preschool – DHS Licensed (PSD); or • If the preschool meets the DE Preschool Program Standards and has not obtained DHS licensure, then it will be coded as a Preschool – LEA (PSL).
