Disability for Speech Only Students

Patti Brown 10/15/08 There has been some discussion here about speech only IEP students and the disability code. Please clarify if speech only students can carry a SL disability code, or if EI should be used. I referred to the uniform data entry practices, but the section regarding disabilities did not specifically pertain to speech only students. Thank you. Patti
Toni Van Cleve 10/15/08 Speech only student should be coded EI. The only other disability codes that should be entered are: AT, DB, DF, HI, VI, and SP.
