Junior Kindergarten Program, Weighting Procdure
Karen Schwenke | 10/28/11 | With regards to children in s Junior Kindergarten program, I noticed that back in 9/3/2009 a question was asked of the bureau as to how these kids are weighted and entered into IMS. I gave this information to an IEP team, and was told by a Special Education Early Childhood Consultant that since this was two years ago, the early childhood world has changed since then. Is the answer that was given two years ago still applicable to a child placed in Junior kindergarten? Would that child still be considered a preschool child with an applicable weighting versus referring to them in IMS as a kindergarten student? |
Dee Gethmann | 10/31/11 | The answer is whatever grade level is on the IEP. If the grade level is PK then the Junior Kindergarten must meet all of the program requirements of preschool and children may be weighted at Level II or Level III (not Level I). |
