Firefox 4.0 and printing Evaluations & Assessments

email to web IFSP administrators on June 16, 2011

Hello again,

A number of you have reported ‘Evaluation and Assessment’ printing issues with Firefox 3.6.x when run on a Mac with OS 10.6.x.  This doesn’t seem to be an issue in Internet Explorer, so that has provided some relief.  The problem is not consistent, but seems to only occur on E & A reports that are more than two pages long.

We had identified this as a Firefox issue early on and there was nothing we could do to fix this as the problem occurred when the Firefox print preview sent the document to the printer.  The ability for us to generate good output ends with the preview.  When the browser sends what is in the preview to the printer it is beyond our ability to fix anything.

The good news, which I need your help confirming, is that these longer E & A reports seem to print fine from Firefox 4.x on a Mac with OS 10.6.x.  I have tested this problem on one IFSP which was a known problem in FF 3.6.x and it now prints fine.  I have Mac OS 10.6.7.

If any of you recall a child where the E & A report was a problem, I’d appreciate your assistance in finding out if Firefox 4.0 is indeed a solution on Macs with OS 10.6.x.
