April Regional Meetings Support Trainers for 2013 Release

As part of the Center’s efforts to help AEAs prepare for the July 1, 2013 release of Iowa IDEA, regional meetings were held across the state during the week of April 8.  Sessions were held in Coralville, Cedar Falls, Storm Lake and Atlantic.

The meeting goals were:

  1. Preview the Iowa IDEA training video clips and attachments.
  2. Address questions related to the applications.
  3. Allow AEAs time to finalize roll out plans for their AEA for the Iowa IDEA applications.

During the training, the 80+ participants:

  • Watched a sampling of training video clips that will be distributed on or before April 15.
  • Reflected on ways the video clips could be incorporated into the rollout.
  • Learned more details about specific features in the applications.
  • Worked on their AEA’s rollout plan.

According to feedback from the participants, the meeting goals were met AND other benefits were recognized.  Comments made from participants included:

  • Helped me understand more concepts of the programs to enable me to train staff.
  • Deeper understanding of the entire system
  • De-stressed me!  I am thrilled at the quality of videos, etc.; also that they will be done on time.
  • Each time I hear (about) it, I get more positive about the change.
  • The videos look great and will be very useful and make training easier.
  • Put us at ease about rolling this out to staff.
  • I think this meeting helped pull many of the pieces together to become a total picture.
  • Videos and other training materials are excellent!
  • Today’s training really relieved some of my anxieties about how to share this information with the special education staff.  I’m so glad I came!

Thanks to all who contributed in any way to the successful execution of the regional meetings.
